Low yields in the second pension pillar
U.S. and Asian stock markets produced over 20% yields last year, and European stock markets returned 6-12%. The second pension pillar’s index funds, though, only earned their clients 5-8% yields in 2017. Despite this, they were the best performing among all funds in the second pillar. Only 10% of clients use them, though. As many as 75% of clients are in the bond funds, where yields were just 0.4-3.7%. Some 1.4m Slovaks save in the second pension pillar.
