Peter Kažimír not elected as head of Eurogroup
The eurozone’s finance ministers elected Portugal’s Mário Centeno as head of their informal gathering, Eurogroup. He was the joint candidate of the EU’s socialist faction. Slovak Finance Minister Peter Kažimír from the center-left Smer party ignored the consensus and bid for the post at the last minute. He withdrew after the first round, though. Slovakia also recently failed in its bid to become the new location for the European Medicines Agency. Its 800 employees will relocate from London to Amsterdam.
