Giesecke + Devrient to close its plant in Nitra
German firm Giesecke + Devrient announced the closing of its plant in Nitra making bank cards, IDs, and passports. All 370 workers will lose their jobs. The company explains the decision as “optimization of production capacities.” Last year, the plant improved its net profit by 2% to €3.3m and its sales fell 13% to €85.4m.
