Čaputová was unusually blunt in evaluating Matovič
President Zuzana Čaputová, Slovakia’s most popular politician, was unusually blunt in evaluating PM Igor Matovič’s handling of the pandemic on Monday. As the government’s pandemic efforts often end up in chaos, she thinks Matovič should considering handing over the issue to other cabinet members. “While the entire world is dealing with Covid-19, we are dealing with the Prime Minister and tensions within the coalition," she said, adding that "when there is chaos, I can hardly back the government." She thinks Matovič portrays a false dilemma when he forces the nation to choose between blanket testing and lockdown. Experts recommend testing regional hotspots. She is not considering calling on the coalition to replace the Prime Minister, though.
Matovič responded by complaining about the media and some coalition partners. He thinks he represents common sense and those who oppose him are with Fico, Pellegrini, and Kotleba.
