Extremists Kotleba and Harabin could win election if they join forces
The extremist parties of Marian Kotleba and Štefan Harabin could win the election if they join forces, reckons Martin Slosiarik, head of the Focus agency. Smer’s election result tends to be much lower compared to polls and the coalition of the ĽSNS and Vlasť parties could get 15% of the vote. “Vlasť will run independently,“ said Harabin, refusing Kotleba’s cooperation offer. Both parties have until the end of November to decide. (sme.sk)
Supply of new apartments fell to record lows
Just 1,732 new apartments were for sale in Bratislava at the end of September, down by half compared to September 2018, according to data of Bencont, a developer. Back in 2017, as many as 4,900 new apartments were on offer. One of the results was a 12.3% annual growth in price to €3,085 per sqm. The market sorely lacks large projects of affordable housing; the supply is dominated by low-quality apartments that developers have been unable to sell for some time. The situation w
Ponuka nových bytov klesla na rekordné minimá
Ku koncu septembra bolo v Bratislave v ponuke 1.732 bytov v novostavbách, medziročne takmer o polovicu menej, ukazujú údaje developera Bencont. V roku 2017 ešte bolo v ponuke 4.900 bytov. (SME/1)
Ak sa spoja, Kotleba s Harabinom môžu vyhrať voľby
Ak sa spoja strany Mariana Kotlebu a Štefana Harabina, môžu vyhrať voľby, tvrdí šéf prieskumnej agentúry Focus Martin Slosiarik. Volebný výsledok strany Smer totiž zvykne byť horší ako prieskumy a koalícia strán ĽSNS a Vlasť by mohla získať aj 15%. „Vlasť pôjde samostatne,“ vyhlásil Harabin a odmietol tak ponuku Kotlebu. Kandidátky do volieb sa budú uzatvárať až koncom novembra, dovtedy sa môžu strany dohodnúť. (sme.sk)

The Boleráz-based sweetener plant of Tate & Lyle recently completed a major investment into doubling the production of maltodextrin. Tate & Lyle investoval do závodu v Bolerázi
Závod na výrobu sladidiel britskej firmy Tate & Lyle v Bolerázi nedávno dokončil investíciu do zdvojnásobenia výroby maltodextrínu. Závodu klesli tržby z 220 mil. € v roku 2012 na vlaňajších 110 mil. € a nová investícia má pomôcť k vyšším tržbám aj ziskom. Maltodextrín je inovatívnym produktom sladidlového biznisu, pričom závod doteraz vyrábal najmä jednoduché sladidlo izoglukóza. Závod spracuje 300.000 ton kukurice ročne, tretinu slovenskej výroby. Next 15 years could be a lot tougher than the last 15
For the V4 countries, the next 15 years could be a lot tougher than the last 15, writes the Economist weekly. Their impressive economic growth since joining the EU in 2004 was based on access to generous subsidies from the EU, munificent flow of remittances from workers in Germany, Austria or Britain, and the success of the German economy. These factors are now petering out and the innovation potential of these countries is insufficient for them to escape the notorious “middl
VW Passat and Škoda Karoq to be made in Bratislava
German car maker Volkswagen is considering the production of the VW Passat and Škoda Karoq models in its plant in Bratislava, according to Automobilwoche, a news portal. Both models were to be assembled in a new plant in Turkey, but VW suspended its construction due to the current political turmoil. The Bratislava plant will have free capacities once the production of small city cars VW Up!, Škoda Citigo, and Seat Mii is terminated in 2021. Recently, VW provided a job guarant
